Mesa Falls

After the past two days of events, we decided to try to see some things closer to the campsite. We were tired of fighting traffic and crowds. We had some neighbors at Henry’s Lake where we were still staying who told us that Mesa Falls was very nice so we decided to take them in. We were very glad that we did! They were beautiful. It was not very far at all to get to the falls. We drove about fifteen minutes, and then we walked just a few yards to see the upper falls. There were great wooden bridges and walkways for you to stand on to see the falls. There was also a lodge that was built years ago that is used as a visitor’s center today. We looked at all of the beautiful flowers and fruit and berry bushes. They were just growing wild along the trail. There were raspberries and blueberries, grapes, strawberries, and other plants to see. The flowers were so large. The girls were just amazed at the size of the flowers. And the colors were so brilliant. We enjoyed taking in the views. We drove a little farther and walked out to the lower falls also. They were not as spectacular as the upper ones, but they were pretty also.
We stopped at the little Brown Bear store on the way back to the campsite. We ran in a got a few things. We went back to the campsite fairly early compared to the last couple of days. We made some dinner, and I rode bikes with the girls to collect some wild sage. Somewhere down the path Charlotte lost a piece to her bike. We had to walk it back to the site. We decided that we needed to go get some groceries from Wal-Mart anyway, so we went into town to get the piece for her bike, the groceries, and maybe a birthday present… By the time we got back it was very late. I’m sure that the other campers were not very happy about our late night adventures. We tried to be very quiet when we returned, but it was late. The ranger was nice though. One of the rangers here is from Norfolk. Go figure! We had a more relaxing day. It was very enjoyable. The weather has been gorgeous. We have all fallen in love with Idaho.
