The Challenge

One of the first things that I am going to do when I get to heaven is ask God about why he only put 24 hours in a day! Somehow it never seems to be enough time! I am challenged by trying to keep up with the blog. We will see how it goes.

I have now gone back to work from summer break. I am an 11 month employee, so I only have July off whereas other teachers have the two and a half months or so. It sort of evens out throughout the year. I sure do not miss grading papers all weekend. English teachers just have such the paper load. It was getting very old. I am glad that I made to change to ITRT. This is my third year as the Instructional Technology Resource Teacher. It's an enjoyable spot. :) I am especially thankful that Joanna is here with me. It's nice to bring your kid to school with you.

I didn't feel like I accomplished nearly enough with the time I had this summer. I had many goals, but I was not able to get to them all. We are still trying to catch up from the construction. There are all kinds of odds and ends that need attention about a major renovation. I still have to finish painting in Charlotte's room, and I have not even started painting in Joanna's room. We need kitchen chairs. Stuff like that...It will get done, but it takes time...and money. Slowly but surely.

I need to do some work in my Sunday school room at church too. The tables in there need to be refinished. It's a major job. I was kind of putting it off until the weather was not so brutal. It's supposed to be 101 today. I am a wimp. I hate to think of standing outside refinishing those table in the sun like that. I think that I am going to wait until Oct or Nov for that project. I have so much at home inside that I can do until then.

Last night Carson said something shocking...He said, "I can't wait for school to start." Perhaps you do not understand how significant that statement is! He dreaded school so badly in kindergarten...in KINDERGARTEN! Who hates kindergarten? He improved some last year, but for him to reflect that he is anxious for school is such an answer to pray! Very refreshing! Joanna has been started band camp this week. It's pretty rough for them to be marching out there in the heat. Charlotte is in band too, but in middle school they do not have band camp in the summer. She's been hanging out with Tom and working with him. He's been very busy. Lots of work. He is just now starting to slow down. I think that the heat is so bad that folks are staying inside and do not want their deck or house pressure washed. They can't be outside to enjoy it anyway. Once things cool off, people start taking notice of it again.

Well, the teachers return in ten days or so, and we will be off and running. It will be a challenging year. I am going to be working on National Board Certification. I think that it is a worthwhile goal. I would really like to go back to school to work on my PhD, but that just is not feasible right now with family and it would be challenging financially too. NBC is a good alternative. I am anxious to get started, and even more anxious to be finished! :)
