Well, I thought that the lousy weather might put a damper on our little outing, but the kids did not seem to mind camping "in" instead of camping "out."This weekend my Sunday school class, mostly 6 to 10 year olds, had planned a camp out at our house. We were all looking forward to a campfire, marshmallows, scavenger hunt and the works. The Nor'easter that arrived had other plans. I was faced with the decision to cancel or move indoors.
I knew that if I cancelled it would be a long time before we could schedule another outing. With every one's schedule so busy and the holidays will be here before we know it, I knew that it was now or never, so into the fellowship hall we went.
The kids had a big time. We played spoons with Uno cards, we played hide and seek in the dark with glow sticks, we painted t-shirts, we had lots of fun...little sleep, but lots of fun. And God bless my husband who stayed with me the entire night on the church floor in a sleeping bag. He was a doll.
Who would have guessed that a "camp in" can be as much fun as a "camp out!"
