Well, as some of you may already know from previous reading here, I have great inner conflict regarding video games. While I find that there is little productive use for video games, Tom and I both enjoyed them as kids. The struggle is the guilt over depriving our own children...and I have Wii envy...a separate issue.
Well I am please to inform you that my Wii envy has been cured. For Christmas our family was given a Playstation 3 AND Rock Band with an extra guitar. A mighty generous gift I might add.
Now, up to this point, Tom and I had felt pretty strongly about not having video games in our house. However, it turns out that we were just too cheap to buy one...once it was given to us, we have discovered that we truly have NO principles. We have spent several HOURS at this point playing Rock Band. So I now have guilt. Great.
At least we're not watching TV. When we all play we are doing it together, and we are interacting...albeit its mostly the kids complaining that I have no skills and I kill our gigs. You would think that after several hours of practice that my abilities would have improved. Well, I suppose that they have marginally. Marginally meaning that I can now achieve 75% on "easy" bass. I'm really rockin' now!
So, the moral of the story is...I have no will power, no principles, no Rock Band skills. But on the up side, I now have guilt. :)
