It's finally Friday!!
This has been such a long week! I am so very glad to see Friday. My week certainly has not been as difficult as my friend's week. Her 16 month old little girl was just diagnosed with cancer. You can read about her here. Please stop by and offer her a few words of encouragement if you have time.
This week I did find a really interesting online tool...I hope to be able to use it with an English class next week. It's called voicethread. You can create a slide show with images, and then record audio commentary. Each user can record commentary. Our English class will be taking a field trip to the Chrysler to see the Civil War photograph exhibit. This would be a great tool for students to use to respond to some of the images in light of the literature that we have been reading in class. I am excited about it.
In my personal life...My oldest has her first date this weekend. She is going to the movies tonight with a guy from church. I'm gettin' old! And she is applying for her first job...she has applied to be a docent at the Lynnhaven House. It's a historical home/museum in our area. It was built in 1725. You can read about it here.
Otherwise this weekend...I will be writing, writing, writing! The portfolio for National Board Teacher Certification is due on the 31st of this month. The deadline is steadily approaching. I have got to get busy! Tom is taking Charlotte and Carson to the robotics competition in Richmond on Saturday. One of his friend's companies sponsors a team from a school in Richmond. It's a pretty neat competition. You can read about it here.
Been a hectic week...even though I will have a busy weekend, I am looking forward to at least being home to work.

Hey AJ!
Thank you so much for all your prayers!
By the way, you would really like my blogging friend, Laura's website. She is also an English teacher (albeit middle school). She is always talking about really neat ideas she has for her students. Also, she's a terrific write. www.teachermuse.blogspot.com
LOVE!

You are going for National Board Certification? Holy Cow!!! You are the first person I have ever kinda met that is taking this huge leap. I will say a little prayer for you that you keep up your strength as you continue doing your work. I understand it is an enormous undertaking. I admire you.
