The BIG Date

So today is my baby’s first BIG date. She’s been out once or twice with a guy and a group of people, but this afternoon is her first real “he picks her up and they go out alone” date. Can you say “anxiety?!?” Mine, not hers of course…

She met this young man at church in the youth group. He is a very nice boy, and I like him very much. He is really the first guy in which she has a true emotional investment. I sure hope that he doesn’t break her heart. They are going to the movies and to his house to meet his parents and hang out.

I do not envy kids today trying to find someone nice to go out with and date. The values today are much different in the “average” kid than they were when I was a teenager. I suppose that all parents say that, but I do think that things really are different now. She is a good girl and has a good head on her shoulders. She will do just fine. She is so much smarter than I EVER was at seventeen. It's hard to believe that she's the same little girl walking along in this picture with her daddy.

I hope that you have a great time baby! (Meanwhile, I will be at home hyperventilating…anxious to hear how it went!) :)
