The next day it was raining again. Just drizzling this time. We decided to drive around to many of the overlooks and take in the sights despite the rain. I don’t think that kids were too happy about it, but they got out at several places and looked at the hoodoo formations. They truly are amazing. They are the most interesting formations. You can really see God’s hand at work with the erosion of the hoodoos. I don’t know how anyone can look at all of this landscape and not see the Flood. We took some video and a few pictures. After we finished driving around we went down to the campstore again. Later that night we went down to the lodge for the campfire program. It was very interesting as well. They had a slide program that gave the history of the park and explained about the formation of the hoodoos. Carson did not want to sit still and Tom had to take him out of the room. It was a very good program and I hate that he had to miss it.The following day we packed up and drove up to the north side of Canyonlands National Park. It is called the Island in the Sky because it is one large plateau that is elevated high above the canyonlands. It was quite a long ride up to the park from Bryce. It was still very hot too. It took the better part of the day to get there. It was very beautiful as well. I don’t think we have seen anything that I haven’t thought was beautiful yet! We took a couple of short hikes as we drove around the park. First we walked up to the arch. It was very pretty to stand and look out through the arch down in the canyons below. It was only about a one-mile hike. The kids still had lots of energy left after the long car ride so we stopped for another hike up to a large crater. Well, they are not truly sure how it was formed. There is speculation as to whether it was a meteor or volcanic activity which formed the crater. It was about a mile and a half hike. The girls and Carson both were happy to get out of the car.
