Wall Street and More

We got up fairly early and ate a good breakfast. We decided to go on a hike down into the canyon. We took the kids up to sunset point and we hike the Navajo Loop trail. It was about 1.3 miles. It was really very interesting hike down into the canyon itself. The hike took us through the Wall Street formation and around lots of bends and next to many cliffs. The hoodoos there are so interesting. I’ve never seen anything like them before. They were very beautiful. All of Utah is different. There are lots of rocks and desert and all, but it looks all different. Some formations are white, some red, some gray, some are even green or pink. I think that the kids had fun hiking. It was hot, but not too bad. The weather has been pretty nice. It has been cooler here than usual because of the rain. Some Chinese lady thought the girls were funny when they climbed up into a large rock crevice and she took their picture. All of the people in their group kept pointing and laughing at the girls up in the crevice. It was strange. After the hike we went back to the site and had a bite to eat. It started to rain rather hard. We had to put up a tarp to try to keep everything dry. The kids were not too happy to sit around so we decided to drive to the Grand Canyon. We drove down into Arizona, and it was a little drive. It was only about 145 miles, but it took us quite a while because of road construction and traffic. The sunset and weather down on the way was much better than at Bryce Canyon. It looked very different than I thought it would look. I guess I expected it to be desert and dry and cactus everywhere. It wasn’t like that at all. There were very large trees, ponderosa pine trees and it was pretty green. It was mostly forest. There was some desert too though. We saw some animals. Some prairie dogs, and some deer, and chipmunks etc. The drive was rather nice after we got through the construction and traffic. We got there and it was really crowded. There were a lot of people there. Many foreigners. We walked down to Bright Angel Point and watched the sunset. It was very nice. We walked around the lodge and outside all around. It was very pretty. It was very big. We took a few pictures and all. We drove back after the sun went down. The drive back was as long as the drive there it seemed. Even though there was no more road construction, I guess we were all just so tired it seemed long. It was late when we finally returned back to the campsite. We didn’t get back until about 1 am. We were all very tired. We slept in the next morning.
