Henry’s Lake was just marvelous. We had the best time there. We got up the next morning and decided to go into Yellowstone. We drove through the small town of West Yellowstone. It seemed very over commercialized. Everything was overpriced and crowded. We drove on through into the park. They were doing some construction on the roads in the park. The traffic was rather bad. We drove to the first place and parking was a bear. We wanted to see some of the geysers, but you had to wait for a parking spot. All of these big RV’s were taking up all of the space. We took a short hike around to see some of the geysers. They were very beautiful. None of us had ever seen anything like them. The colors were just amazing. They were so blue trimmed with other colors such as green, orange, red, and others. They were very hot. There were signs everywhere warning you not to touch any formations because of the heat. There were many people too. We had to wait to see most of the formations. The hike was very crowded. There were lots of people trying to see the geysers. We walked around one small hike, and then we drove on to another and walk a second small hike looking at some other formations. All of the geysers were truly amazing. They were worth the wait. We eventually worked our way to Old Faithful. I was very excited about seeing it. We had a little while to wait before it would be erupting, so we stopped at the little store for an ice cream cone. We ate our cones and walked the rim of Old Faithful waiting for the time to pass. We saw a few other formations. The crowd was steadily building while we waited. As the time drew closer we found a place to sit on a small bridge with a good view of the cone. It seemed like forever while we wait for the water to come roaring out of the cone. Tom got tired of sitting, and so did Carson. He decided to walk on while the girls and I waited. Finally the water began to rise and then erupted beautifully. It was incredible! I was glad that we waited. I thought that it was very beautiful. I thought that it was one of the most amazing things that we saw on the trip. We headed back to the car, and then we drove back to Henry’s Lake. We found our campsite in shambles. The wind had taken its toll on our stuff. We had to spend a little while putting everything back together again. It wasn’t too bad. We were all tired though. We had a busy day. We had seen some animals at the park. We did see a wolf. We also saw some buffalo and antelope. Overall, it was very crowded and the traffic was bad. We had fun, but seeing all of the geysers was a lot of work. I was very surprised at how much traffic there was and how many huge RV’s they let just drive all around in the park. They could barely fit down the small roads. The visitor’s center was very crowded too. It was very picturesque, but very crowded. We still were not able to see very many things. We still have several places in Yellowstone that we would like to see.
